Lifelong kauwā and student of ʻāina, Kapōmaikaʻi is a Hawaiian language instructor for Kawaihuelani at UH Manoa, and doctoral student of the Political Science department. A recipient of the 2024 Presidential Citation for Meritous Teaching, Kapōmaikaʻi guides us in reclaiming our ancestral languages as powerful pathway to remembering ourselves and right relationship with our place. She is a student of, and advocate for the reestablishment of our original food systems as potent pathway to uphold the relationship that is ʻāina, reclaim our ancestral nourishment, and heal both our inner and outer climates. Her focus is on our seasonal harvest restrictions that allow for species to birth. Her ʻohana descends from the uplands Kailua, Koʻolaupoko, Oʻahu, ma ke poʻowai o Kamakalepo. She resides in Mānoa, beneath ka ua Tuahine, i uka hoʻi o ke kai o Kalehuawehe, e kilohi aku ana iā Leʻahi. Waipuna lau ke aloha!
