Moʻolelo:
My name is Ginger Gohier and I am the Communications Coordinator at Kuaʻāina Ulu ʻAuamo (KUA), a nonprofit that empowers grassroots rural and Native Hawaiian mālama ʻāina groups to celebrate their places and pass on their traditions to better Hawaiʻi and achieve ‘āina momona. KUA employs a community‐driven approach that currently supports a statewide network of approximately 40 mālama ʻāina community groups collectively referred to as E Alu Pū; over 60 loko iʻa sites and practitioners in Hui Mālama Loko Iʻa; and 50 limu practitioners called the Limu Hui.
I was born and raised in Honolulu, Oʻahu; now residing in Kohala, Hawaiʻi. Outside of the community work I do for KUA, I stay busy with commitments across many initiatives in Kohala and kōkua at multiple sites across the island.
